Attachment Tamer

As you can see, there are a lot of plugins we use and enjoy.

Attachment Tamer (was Mail Attachment Iconizer) is another which is hard to live without.

Mail.app has some annoying habits:

  • Taking over the whole screen when creating a message with an image attachment.
  • Not showing the full name of received email attachments.

This a screen shot from their site, showing some of the advanced behavior Attachment Tamer delivers:

Mail Comparison

Attachment Tamer gives you control over attachment handling in Apple Mail. It fixes the most annoying Mail flaws and allows you to configure how attachments are displayed:

  • allows you to always display images and PDF documents as icons (optional file size limit);
  • ensures that image files are sent as regular attachments unless you want them to appear in place;
  • ensures that text attachments are always displayed as files;
  • automatically eliminates the superfluous ATT0001.TXT (ATT0001.HTM, etc.) attachments when sending through an MS Exchange server or to MS Outlook if you put attachments at the end of message;
  • allows you to always display full attachment names instead of trimmed names with ellipses.
  • provides an option to automatically add text to the top of your message, indicating that an attachment is below.

Iconizer is an indispensable tool for graphic designers, photographers, entrepreneurs and others who use e-mail for their professional communication. It allows you to work with attachments more efficiently and makes it possible to send Exchange/Outlook-friendly messages. Iconizer integrates with with Mail seamlessly.
