As cliché as it sounds, there are many times when a simple restart is all it takes. However, when problems keep coming back,
Resetting the Power Manager on Intel based Macs
For portables with a removable battery:
- Shut down, remove the battery and disconnect the power cord.
- Hold the power button down for 5 seconds
- Turn your computer back on with a single press of the power button.
For portables without a removable battery:
- Shut down, and make sure a good power supply is connected.
- On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
- Turn your computer back on with a single press of the power button.
iMacs, Mac Pro’s, Xserve’s and Mac Mini’s:
- Shut down the computer.
- Unplug the computer’s power cord.
- Wait fifteen seconds.
- Attach the computer’s power cord.
- Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
